Álvaro Vicario is a Spanish-born director based in Madrid with a background in VFX.
Since 2020, he has been one of the directors at the production company The Good Mood, run by showrunner Daniel Écija.
In 2023, he directed two episodes of a new Disney Plus series called Desde el Mañana, a supernatural thriller featuring Marta Hazas, Álex González, and Ramón Barea as the main characters, currently in postproduction.
 In 2024, he directed the drama  Eva & Nicole, a new Atresmedia series starring Belén Rueda, Hiba Abouk, and Gonzalo de Castro, among others. Both series are set to premiere in 2024.
As a filmmaker, he has directed several music videos, including one for Grammy winner Bruno Valverde, and many episodes of the TVE prime-time soap opera 4 Estrellas.
In 2019, he directed the short film Polter, which won Best Short Film of the Official Selection at the International Fantastic Film Festival of Sitges, making it one of the four Spanish winners in the last thirty years at the most prestigious horror and fantastic festival in the world. Polter also won Best Fantastic Short Film at the Medina del Campo International Film Festival, two Silver Méliès for Best European Fantastic Short Film, four awards at the Fugaz Cortoespaña Awards, and accolades at the British Horror Film Festival. It has received more than two hundred selections globally and over forty national and international awards. It was shortlisted for the Oscars 2021 and the Goya Awards 2021 and was acquired by Movistar for national distribution.
Currently, Alvaro is developing a new series with the creator of La Chica de Nieve and working on his debut film.
